Description
Learn how to prepare two comforting and flavorful Mexican classics: a Mexican-style picadillo , minced beef, potatoes, vegetables and spices, perfect for topping tacos or accompanying rice, and an atole , a traditional hot drink made from masa (corn) with a comforting taste.
This course combines family techniques and practical tips to allow you to recreate these authentic recipes at home, with ingredients that are easy to find in Quebec.
What you will learn
- Preparing a Mexican-style picadillo: choosing the meat, cutting the vegetables (potatoes, carrots, peppers, etc.), managing the spices and chilies according to your tolerance, balancing the flavors.
- Mastering the cooking of picadillo: techniques for browning the meat, simmering without drying it out.
- Adapt the picadillo for different uses: for tacos, tostadas, quesadillas, empanadas, or as a main dish with rice and tortillas.
- To prepare a smooth atole: work the masa (corn) base, avoid lumps, sweeten and flavor at the right level, adjust the texture (more liquid or thicker according to taste).
